Just do it

Nothing like being woken up at 5:00 AM-ish to two men screaming at each other at the tops of their lungs. It’s even better is when it carries on for the better part of 45 minutes while they circle the block, increasing in volume and intensity.

“I’m gonna f’ing kill you [explicative, explicative]”.

Ok, I admit that at first I was worried there was a problem that would lead to someone being hurt. By the end of it, I’m wishing I had a gun to hand them so they could just get it over with. Seriously, it went through my mind about 50 times.

And what’s with the laps of the block while screaming at each other, kicking bottles and making a racket? The worst part was that it apparently was an argument over $5 that one of them owed the other.

The incident reminded me of a friend’s argument that dueling should be brought back to help resolve some of these crackhead type conflicts. Un-PC, yes. Effective? Maybe.

  1. I’ve always thought that the metro region should set up a theme park (maybe called “Crackheadland”). Each person pays $5 to enter, and receives a gun with lots of ammo. They can drive around the themepark in big Buicks shooting at each other.

  2. Thier circling around the block was a way of posturing aggression to each other without actually physically assaulting each other – a wise choice since neither crackhead has any health insurance. It happens with wildlife all the time – the puffing of feathers/fur or gaping fangs, but no actual battle. It saves on wounds.

Regardless, I always wish for a flamethrower in situations where I hear crap like that out in the alley/street.

  3. Dear Anonymous Whiny Baby,
Even though this was Truxtonian’s post I’m deleting your comment because you did not read my comment policy (over on the right) which is initial or ID your post. Anonymous postings annoy me. If you are going to make a commment stand behind it in some way. You can try to post again but next time stand behind what you say.
Also all sorts of neighborhoods are given to annoying people screaming at each other at 5 in the morning. When I was in college how was I supposed to research that my downstairs neighbor would get a drunken girlfriend prone to screaming and yelling at all hours?
People yelling in the streets in the wee hours is uncommon* on my block and I live in the same hood (TC) as Truxtonian.
    * Uncommon as it doesn’t happen on a daily or weekly basis but it doe happen. Often when you don’t expect it.
