The In Shaw Blog
The InShaw blog began back in 2003 to share with friends a dynamic neighborhood. I took the pen name Mari Inshaw and wrote about gentrification, crime, home renovation, gardening and whatever I felt like.
The Inshaw blog started off on Blogspot, then moved to Moveable Type and is currently using WordPress. In 2013 the blog took a break for a few years but returned in 2016. Unfortunately, posts between 2010 and 2013 were not saved in a format that could be easily transferred from MT to WP. They exist, they just aren’t available.
The Truxton Circle Project
Currently, the focus of the InShaw blog is original historical research of the Truxton Circle neighborhood. It was helped with a 2012 DC Humanities grant to help transcribe and fix the then just released 1940 census data. This resulted in the TruxtonCircle.org website.
A wide variety of on line and off line resources are used to tell a range of stories about the history of Truxton Circle. These range from Ancestry.com, the Library of Congress, the National Archives & Records Administration (RG 351 and others), Catholic University Archives, DC Recorder of Deeds, Newspapers.com, FindAGrave.com and Google.
