Parking for out of state bfs, gfs, and frequent visitors

As spotted on the Eckington listserv:
If you are seeing a MD or VA resident who stays over frequently there is relief from getting a ticket for not being registered with DC, and it is ROSA. All the love of your life has to do is prove that you live here and they live there, and stand in line at the DMV.

How to keep a parking space clear

I’m about to run out the door, but I just gotta share this….
It is Sunday morning and people going to one of several houses of worship are parking in on my street. There is a woman, walking down my street, screaming and yelling and carrying on, so I’m just going to label her crazy. She’s yelling at no one, but when someone does appear on the street she starts loudly hurling insults that don’t make sense. Anyway, she stopped just in front of my house, where there was a parking space. I looked out of the window and saw a car stopped near an empty space but seeing her right there yelling at them, they drove away.

Where did the parking go?

Things didn’t go as planned New Years Eve. We started off at Glen Echo and finished the night in College Park playing show tunes on the piano as the hired band packed up. Anyway it was late and rainy and the chauffeur didn’t think he could get to Springfield to drop off the rest of the party. So they decided to crash at my place.
I thought at one or two AM, there would be plenty of parking on my street. Nope. The chauffeur had to park in an empty church owned lot or either the parking lot of G&G’s. This is one of the annoyances of neighborhood progress, lack of parking. Normally, parking, not much of an issue for me since I don’t own a car. But I do become more aware of it when I have to host car-people. Particularly, suburban car people for whom parallel parking is no easy task.
I understand as the neighborhood fills up, parking becomes dear. Also it may have been a fluke of a midnight church service running long, because as I look out my window, there is now parking. Yay.
